January Issue . 2011,
WOW! Terrific FUN Show! What a way to start the NEW YEAR!
If this show was any indication, we are in for an exciting 2011. When the FUN committee changed the location to Tampa this year after a lackluster coin market in 2010, it could have been a recipe for disaster. Our very special clients appeared, rare and exciting coins hit the marketplace, and the Fun convention was a huge success! Most dealers were very happy with the location. It seemed much easier to get around Tampa and the facilities were excellent. The convention center overlooks the water and is so picturesque one is tempted to enjoy the view and the nice weather. We were so busy at this show we did not get the chance...but we appreciate the business and all our friends stopping by our booth to visit and seek advice. The last few months have been frustrating, as nice coins were being held in strong hands. We are finally starting to see the market heat up again and these coins are becoming available to us. We strive to deal only in the upper echelon of the market in terms of eye-appeal. Those coins are never cheap, nor are they ever plentiful. Have confidence and faith in ARC. We will scout out those irreplaceable coins for you and do our best to place them in your hands at the right level.
The buzz of the show was NGC's special display of Vividly Toned Silver Commemoratives. What an amazing job Scott Schechter did of displaying some of the most beautifully toned and finest known coins. On display were primarily coins from the Bingham and Schultz Collection and they were spectacular! After viewing the exhibit, a collector of many years that owns a top-notch toned commem collection, resubmitted all of his NGC and PCGS coins to NGC...just to have them showcased in the new edge view holders. It does make a difference...the toned coins look stunning with the white background. Building a Registry Set like the Bingham or Schultz set takes many years of being in the hobby, attending coin shows and aligning yourself with a dealer that is well connected to the market. Patience is a virtue and is indeed one of the hallmarks of a set of superior caliber. We were fortunate at our booth to display some of the Bingham collection and in future shows this year we will do this again.
We brought home and are displaying on our website, some amazing new coins! Don't miss the 1895 Morgan Dollar or the 1914 & 1908-S Saint Gaudens. We also are offering an amazing 1835 Half Cent and an early Capped Bust Proof Dime and Quarter, just to name a few. Each and every new coin has special attributes that we think make them good prospects for your collection!
We wish to thank all of our friends for coming out to the shows and meeting with us, checking our website daily, and buying coins in 2010. We appreciate you and wish you a prosperous 2011!
We will continue to place superb collector coins on our website, so check back often. However, many of the rarities that we offer never even hit the website. We have an extensive wantlist from our clients that we have assembled over the years and, of course, they are offered the coin(s) first. Call or email Bonnie or Dave to update your wantlist or submit a new one with us.
We thank you for your business in 2010 and we look forward to many glorious coins in 2011!
Our Warmest Regards,
The Staff of Albanese Rare Coins
