Hello
and welcome to the new insight on the coin industry...
The big buzz seems to be the August ANA World's Fair
of Money in Denver, Colorado.
It seems there will be many "extraordinary"
exhibits this year. And we recommend anyone whom has
the wherewithal to attend this show to "do so".
Whether you’re a beginner collector or an expert
numismatist you will definitely be thrilled by the
numismatic wonders that will be present for all to
see. In fact some of the most prized artifacts of
American numismatics.
The U.S. Treasury
Department will have a $1 billion public exhibit and
many of the world’s most famous and valuable
rare coins...
Exhibits include: |
-
The
first-ever public display by the United States
Mint of ten
1933 Double Eagle gold pieces. Now secured
at Fort Knox, the ten 1933 Double Eagle gold pieces
were illegally removed from the United States
Mint in Philadelphia more than 70 years ago, according
to the Mint.;
|
- A Bureau of Engraving
and Printing display of $100,000 denomination bills;
|
|
- What many experts
describe as the U.S. Mint's first silver dollar
from 1794, insured for $10 million.
|
|
-
The
inaugural appearance of an extraordinary "Frontier
Gold" exhibit from the Smithsonian's National
Numismatic Collection in Washington, DC showcasing
historic 19th century Colorado, California and
Nevada gold coins and ingots.
|
- Never before displayed
in Denver: the unique 1787 Brasher Doubloon.
|
- There will be daily
demonstrations of a century-old, one-ton, hand-operated
Treasury Department paper money printing press.
|
Bowers
and Merena, the official convention auctioneer, will
be conducting a multisession auction during the week
of the show. Sessions feature a half dozen gold coins
privately minted in 1860 and 1861 by Clark, Gruber &
Co. of Denver, including an example of the famous $10
“Pike’s Peak” design. The auction
also includes outstanding selections of high-grade Lincoln
cents and Morgan dollars from the Anne Kate Collection;
Indian Head/Buffalo nickels from the Richard Hennessy
Collection; Standing Liberty quarters from the James
W. Lull Collection; and a virtual treasure trove
of proof gold coins which has our interest for sure.
The World's Fair of Money is hosted by the Denver Coin
Club.
It will be held at the Colorado Convention Center, Hall
C, 700 14th St., Denver, Colorado. Public hours are
Wednesday through Friday, August 16 - 18, 2006, from
10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, August 19, from
10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For additional information, visit
the American Numismatic Association web site, www.money.org,
