Aug. - Sept.  Issue . 2011,

It's the dog days of summer in New York and Houston (can you believe... Houston 102 degrees...yikes) but that must signal that the coin market is heating up!  We have been very busy here buying and selling collections, and we certainly see signs that nice coins are selling and bringing numbers that will make consignors pleased. Of course our collectors are the best, and the coins we take on consignment are superior in the market place. Silver and gold rarities are still a good play with your coin dollars, but the numbers are inching up to the level we saw two and three years ago.  Don't miss this opportune time to purchase dollars, commems, early type silver, St. Gaudens and in some cases early gold.

We are just back this week from a thrilling show at the ANA-Chicago convention.  What a great town for a coin show! As usual the ANA did a marvelous job of planning a week that dealers and collectors alike won't forget! The ANA banquet at the Shedd Aquarium was an obvious high point. Gold hit a high in the $1,800-$1,900 range during the show and trading of bullion was brisk.  We wanted to fill some orders from clients looking for CAC gold $20's but were unable to find anything on the floor.  This is at a show with hundreds of dealers and more floor space than any coin show in history!   Some amazing coins were displayed by the ANA, in particular the 1892 and 1893 proof Columbian commemoratives were spectacular and the display explaining the history of that coin and it's debut at the Columbian Exhibition was a lesson in Chicago history and Numismatics as well.

We have had the pleasure of offering some collector coins that should not be overlooked.  The Dr. McC collection of Morgan dollars will not disappoint, those coins were handpicked over a number of years and they are all very special and technically superior.  We have also acquired a portion of a short set of Walking Liberty halves that are off the charts spectacular.  These Walkers were collected by a client of ours that rejected many, many coins for each one acquired...so you get the benefit of all his hard work!

From the Chicago ANA we will be offering exceptional coins such as:  1955 dd Lincoln in MS64rd CAC1808 $5 Capped Bust in XF1839/8 $10 PCGS in AU53 CAC, and an 1872 Seated Dollar in PCGS MS64+ CAC.  There are many more NEWPS to be listed this week, so come back to the site and look for an exciting array of gorgeous gems!

Don't hesitate to call Bonnie in Texas at 888-637-6388 or Dave in New York at 888-637-8884 to discuss your collecting goals. Our clients are the best!

We will continue to place superb collector coins on our website, so check back often.  However, many of the rarities that we offer never even hit the website.  We have an extensive wantlist from our clients that we have assembled over the years and, of course, they are offered the coin(s) first.  Call or email Bonnie or Dave to update your wantlist or submit a new one with us.

We thank you for your business in 2010 and we look forward to many glorious coins in 2011!

Our Warmest Regards,
The Staff of Albanese Rare Coins
