December Issue . 2009,
We are happy to report that the coin market is looking very healthy indeed. Very rare and unique coins have certainly held their own in the last 15 months, but nice type and other silver coins in the $1,000 to $5,000 range have been hard hit. We have noticed that many collectors and investors have been sitting on the sidelines waiting to see prices bottom out. Beautiful collector coins were being closely held as owners waited for the levels to start rising again. Current market activity would suggest that prices have leveled off for the most part and are indeed on the upswing. Collectors are jumping in and buying now, satisfied with their investment.
The last 2 shows we have attended have been extremely busy and we've been able to buy very nice coins and sell them in record time. In a couple of cases we had 3 and 4 calls on the very same coin the day it was placed on our website. If you have an interest in a coin on our site and you fail to call or email us...you may just lose out. We are happy to place a coin on a 24 hour hold if you have a sincere interest, so don't hesitate!
We have to give credit to the Money Show of the Southwest for putting on a top-notch coin show. Carl Schwenker with his 60+ volunteers from the Houston Coin Club have managed to resurrect a show that was dreadful. This show is now one of the premiere shows in the country. Mark your calendar for
December 2-4th 2010! The advertising campaign that was used certainly did the trick in bringing in the collectors, and improved market conditions brought forth brisk trading. The show was a great success in spite of the fact that
Houston was hit with an extremely rare occurrence of snow on Friday. If you are familiar at all with
Houston, you are aware that the city shuts down with any forecast of snow. Folks just stay home and enjoy the rare beauty of a snowfall. There are no snowplows in
Houston and the freeway system comes to a standstill. Top that off with a drop in gold more than $46 on Friday and you have a recipe for a disastrous coin show. Thankfully that was not the case. Friday was a bit quiet, but Thursday and Saturday more than made up for that. The strength of the coin market was made obvious to us, when this show far surpassed our sales expectations.
Check out our website often for our new purchases, you won't be disappointed. Just a few coins you will be seeing later this week:
