May issue . 2009,
Hi to everyone out there in cyber space. Here we are mid-way through spring already! We were recently at the Central States show, and to be very honest it was a drag. We were able to get some very nice coins, but the retail end of the show was very slow.
On our end here at Albanese Rare Coins, business is very brisk. Seems like collectors/investors are not backing off from buying better date and early type silver and gold. Seem like our US Govt. seems to be spiraling out of control spending money like there is no tomorrow and know that there will be no consequence to this madness! So as I’ve said all along, coins are the best alternative to stability of your investments. Many investment counselors say there should be 10% - 15% of your assets in tangibles, i.e.; Gold, Silver. Well, not trying to push coins, but look at the long historical charts of Rarities vs. Stocks. There is just no comparison; rarities are a much better way to go.
You must take the time and energy of “Due Diligence” - absolutely do your homework!! There are many pitfalls out there, as in any investment. There are no sure winners and risks are there. Remember that “Quality, Rarity, Eye Appeal” are the three things that you should keep foremost in your mind when making a decision on buying a coin. Price should be a factor, but not the overlying one, as True Quality does cost more. But the rewards are bound to be much better than price shopping.
So to sum it all up, I truly believe and have no reservations that the Coin Market is alive and well. Our economy will straighten out and people will spend money, although more cautiously. As everyone should in the first place, and stay within their means. These terrible economic times are a bitter lesson that should never be f orgotten. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions or requests. We love hearing from you! Have a great rest of May. Our next shows are Long Beach May 28 – 30, and then Baltimore June 11 – 13. Please stop and say "Hi" if you're at the show.
(Upcoming Shows Link) If there are any last minute “wants” please let us know. Also if there are any coins in the Stacks auction let us know and we will view and bid for you on only 5% commission. Keep an eye for the “market insight” after the show for an in depth write up on how the market is doing and where it’s going.
Our very best to you, Dave Albanese coinace@aol.com
