As for the show itself, it was quiet and slow, public-wise. Not too many customers to talk with and purchasing from the public was very minimum. But the buzz was high energy; as dealers traded and there were many Newps to choose from on the bourse floor. I remember writing some years ago that I thought as the future approached, “coin shows” would become less and less interesting due to the Internet and the ease of viewing coins on Web Pages. Well, we are in the “future” now, and shows ARE becoming less and less interesting, it seems. For dealers, the good thing about attending shows is coming home with new coins to write up and put at the web page. You can almost feel the excitement out there from people hitting your page with curiosity of what new coins we have found. Sales remain good for us because of the web page. This shows me the coin market is still strong, even during such hard financial times. For dealers who depend on “coin shows”, it has to be very difficult and stressful right now. Thank God we don’t depend on these shows for sales. We thank all of you out there supporting us at our on line store instead!
Well, some other news is that my first book should be out VERY soon. When it does come out, there will be a big section on this web page for the book and for people who would like to purchase it. I’m very excited as this has been a lifelong dream of mine; to write my own book about something I love. And to write it about the 1804 proof eagle and it's history – well, I never would have dreamed I would be able to write about something so interesting and fun. That book took me a long time to write, consuming countless hours and months of research and traveling. I can only hope and pray that the public appreciates the work I put into this book and finds it as fun and interesting as I do.
