December issue . 2008,

We are back in the office now, after the winter Whitman Coin Expo in Baltimore. In our opinion the show as just so-so. We expected to see more of our clients at this show, old friends, but foot traffic was noticeably lighter than usual for this event. As you recall, the Summer ANA was held in Baltimore this year, which makes 4 major shows in one year. We believe that was a factor, the current economic conditions unfortunately didnʼt help attendance. Dealer to dealer transactions were tentative at best. Wait and see seemed to be the prevailing attitude. Kind in mind for tax reasons many dealers do not want to add to their inventory as year end approaches. These combinations create more buyers than sellers. As always the very PQ coins, cream of the crop as we like to say are the first to trade and most difficult to acquire. These are the treasures we want for our collectors. We were able to acquire some beautiful pieces and true rarities, so be sure you peruse our New Inventory. Remember even in a market such as this, there is fine opportunity for the savvy collector. Rare coins have certainly held there own in this economy, what better place to have your money at this time. This is the time to upgrade that type set, find that key coin, or start a new series altogether. As always there are undervalued areas of the market. Feel free to contact us, letʼs talk about ways we can assist you whatever direction you choose to go in. We have layaway programs and we work on an individual basis with each and every collector. Donʼt let that dream coin slip out of your fingers! We will be setting up at the Money Show of the Southwest at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. The dates are December 5th through the 7th, 10 to 6pm. We look forward to seeing you there. We want to extend a Blessed Thanksgiving to all of you, here at Albanese Rare Coins we are thankful for you!

(Upcoming Shows Link) If there are any last minute “wants” please let us know. Also if there are any coins in the Stacks auction let us know and we will view and bid for you on only 5% commission. Keep an eye for the “market insight” after the show for an in depth write up on how the market is doing and where it’s going.
